T500. Jingo Water Dragon & Botan Tsuba

$395.00

T500.  Higo jingo tsuba.  7.5 x 7.8 x .25 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is 1 x 2.7 cm.  The collector I bought this from gives it to the 2nd Jingo master (late 17th – early 18th century); he knows more than I do so I won’t argue.  On the front there is a water dargon worked in silver nunome and on the back a Buddhist Vajra in gold nunome.  The unusually thin plate is pierced with a botan (peony) sukashi, which itself also is slightly unusual for Jingo.  Botan stand for good fortune, bravery, and honor, according to the former owner.  Nice piece with lots to like, all in excellent condition.  $395.
