T394.  Iron tsuba with gold nunome.  8.7 x 8.7 x .35 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is.8 x 2.8 cm.  A bit of a puzzle here.  The 6 or 8 sided seppa-dai of this tsuba leads me to give it to Nanban but nothing else about it points that direction (I think).  Spots along the raised rings on either side are themselves very slightly raised above the surround and were treated with gold in nunome (most of the gold has been lost to time).  The hitsu-ana are plugged with lead, the patina is lovely, and there are very subtle tekkotsu on the rim.  $225.
