T346. Early Kinko Tsuba

$165.00

T346.  Yamagane and lacquer tsuba.  7 x 7 x .3 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .8 x 3 cm.  Not sure if this would be properly classified as Ko Kinko; one who saw it said early but amateur.  This may have at one time had amida yasuri; some evidence of that remains.  I was told once that when the 2 hitsu are of differing heights above the center line, that is a sign of a tsuba that was mounted on an early tachi (the strong koshi sori of a tachi meant that the longer kogai had to pass through the tsuba at an angle different from that of the kotsuka).  Don’t know if this is the case here; I’m in over my head.  Scuffs and scratches and one possible sword strike on the rim; otherwise all is well.  $165.
