T317. Yagyu Iron Sukashi Tsuba

$650.00

T317.  Iron sukashi tsuba attributed to Yagyu.  7.2 x 7.2 x .45 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .85 x 3 cm.  This tsuba used to belong to Skip Holbrook; both he and Robert Haynes have attributed it to Yagyu.  I have a previous owner’s notes about the tsuba, which say:  Yagyu, late 17th century, slightly convex, bevelled sukashi openings, abundant tekkotsu, layering evident.  The sides of the central diamond aren’t square to the plate; they are bevelled, and you can see evidence of layering in the sukashi.  Condition is excellent.  $650.
