T179. Kagamishi Tsuba

T179.  Yamagane tsuba from the Kagamishi School.  5.6 x 6.3 x .4 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana measures .8 x 2.9 cm.  Yamagane (mountain metal) is copper.  Kagamishi were mirror makers and tsuba of this style usually are attributed to Kagamishi.  Aminals (foxes, maybe) gamboling in a forest; nicely done.  There is a scratch on the seppa-dai of the front of this tsuba; otherwise condition is great.  Kagamishi tsuba aren’t very common; this one is nice.  $400.
