Q580. Iron Tsuba with Boar's Eyes in Gold
Q580. Diamond shaped tsuba with boar’s eyes at the corners. 9.2 x 9.3 (across diagonals) x .3 cm. The nakago hitsu-ana is 1 x 3 cm. The boar’s eyes are outlined in gold inlay; 80 to 90% of the gold remains. There is a somewhat prominent area on the plate with a raised lamination. Whether ot not this was intentional, it has surely been on the tsuba from the beginning; the smith chose to leave it be (adds to the interest, I think). $350.
