Q249. Iron Tsuba with Brass, Heianjo
Q249. Iron tsuba with extensive brass inlay. 8.7 x 9 x .37 cm. The nakago hitsu-ana is .8 x 3 cm. This would be called Heianjo Zogan, I believe. There are many tsuba that get that call; this one is better than the vast majority of them. It has a presence. I think also that this is older than most of the type. Almost none of the brass is missing, just a small piece occasionally near the rim. I’m impressed. $350.
