Q224. Iron Tsuba with Elaborate Inlay
Q224. Iron tsuba with gold, silver, & shakudo inlay. 7 x 7.5 x .3 cm at the rim (thicker at seppa dai). The nakago hitsu-ana is .6 x 2.7 cm. Sometime ago I heard the Japanese fable about someone releasing a magic horse from a small bottle. I, of course, no longer remember it but whatever it is, this is it. The detail in the linay is quite amazing; the closer I look the more I see. The tsuba is signed in gold and with a seal on the backside; I haven’t been able to read it. Excellent condition. A bargain at $250.
