Q127. Iron & Gold Tsuba with Hakogaki

$450.00

Q127.  Iron tsuba with extensive gold inlay.  8 x 8.1 x .4 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .9 x 2.7 cm.  The gold is raised above the surface: very finely done nunome I believe.  This comes in a fitted box with a hakogaki.  A piece of paper inside the box claims to be a translation.  It reads,

“Cover: San Sui Tsuba (design of river/mountain)

Inside: Bizen Shoami, Iron, round shape, deeply carved, Yoshu (Iyo) inlay, ryo hitsu are closed.”

I can’t see where the hakogaki says Bizen Shoami but otherwise it seems to make sense.  Condition is excellent; I see no evidence of missing gold.  $450.
