Q125. Signed Iron Tsuba, Namitoshi
Q125. Iron tsuba with inlaid plant vignettes. 7.5 x 7.7 x .4 cm at the rim (thicker at the seppa dai). The nakago hitsu-ana is .8 x 2.6 cm. There is a label on the box and inside the lid, text from some publication is pasted in. There is a loose sheet of paper with writing in English (former owner’s translation) that reads, “Namitoshi, a student of Inoue Tatsutoshi, worked in Kohka era (1844), Musashi craftsman,” and then it goes on to tell us how skillful he was and names other members of his school of tsuba makers. Other than for a bit of fuss on the iron plate, which should clean off fairly easily, the condition is quite good. $275.
