Goto Kenjo (1586 – 1663, also signed Masatsugu) was the 2nd son of 5th mailline Goto master Tokujo; his elder brother Eijo became the 6th master. Eijo died at a fairly early age, when his 1st born son was too young to take over the family and studio. Kenjo was appointed the 7th master. Kenjo worked for the Tokugawa (Shogun) and also the Maeda Daimyo; he is known for bringing new ideas to the Goto. If you google Goto Kenjo you’ll be able to learn a lot more.
