Q691. Kinko Tsuba by 3rd Jingo
Q691. Kinko tsuba, mumei, brass I believe but possibly copper, with silver inlay. 7.5 x 8.5 x .37 cm. The nakago hitsu-ana is .9 x 2.6 cm. This comes with a Hozon paper from the NBTHK, dated 2002 and giving it to Kodai (later generation) Higo. I showed pictures of this to a serious student of Higo kodogu and he has little doubt it is by the 2rd Jingo master. The material and work are right for the smith and the disinctive punch marks around the nakago hitsu-ana clinch it. Another attribute of Jingo tsuba is a slight asymetry; this one comes with a fitted box and it fits in one way only.
Lovely tsuba in excellent condition. $1,950.
