C142.  Iron Sukashi Tsuba signed Choshu no Ju Tomosada.  7 x 7 x .4 cm.  Heavy, dense plate in perfect condition.  The carving is crisp and very well executed.  Robert Haynes, in his Index, has Tomosada’s death date as 1800.  This is a first class Choshu tsuba.  It comes with a somewhat unusual but perfectly sufficient box.  $500.
