C271. Kamakura Bori Iron Tsuba

$250.00

C271.  Iron tsuba with eggplants and flowers.  7.8 x 7.8 x .35 cm.  The nakago hitsu-ana is .8 x 2.7 cm.  The consignor of this tsuba was thinking Shoami or possibly Heianjo Zogan because of the gold ten zogan on the eggplants, but Robert Haynes has seen this and he thinks it is Kamakura Bori from around 1500.  I’m no one to argue with Mr. Haynes; we’ll go with that.  There is a bit of loss to corrosion at about 10:00 on the front, right where a Samurai’s thumb would sit when wearing a sword.  Condition is excellent.  $250.
