Q440.  Wakizashi signed Etchu no Kami Fujiwara Sadayuki.

Nagasa:  21 7/16"  54.7 cm.

Sori:  1,5 cm.

Moto haba:  3.2 cm.

Overall in shirasaya:  33"  83.5 cm.

Shinogi zukuri, koshizori, iore mune, chu kissaki, ubu 2 holes.  The hada is ko-itame with fine ji-nie.  The hamon is suguba in a bright nioi-guchi covered in ko-nie.  There are small elements of hataraki here and there, including areas, especially in the mono-uchi, with nie boiling off the top of the hamon creating nijuba.  The boshi is a continuation of the hamon, with short nie nijuba on each side, hakkikake (swept) on the omote, and a short kaeri.  There are bo-hi carved on each side.  This sword is flawless and in polish.  It is mounted with a solid silver double habaki and in well made (horn eyelets at the mekugi-ana) shirasaya in excellent condition.  There is a Hozon paper from the NBTHK in Tokyo, dated 2015 and attesting to the signature and quality.

Etchu no Kami Sadayuki lived in Nagoya, Owari Province and worked in the latter half of the 17th century.  He was doing quite fine work when he made this wakizashi.  2 pounds, 7 ounces.  $1,495.
