Moto haba: 3 cm.

Moto kasane: .6 cm.

Saki haba: 1.9 cm.

Saki kasane: .45 cm.

Nakago nagasa: 5 3/4″ 14.7 cm.

Overall in shirasaya: 29 1/2″ 75 cm.

Sninogi zukuri, iore mune, chu kissaki, koshi zori, ubu with one hole. The hada is ko itame and a bit of mokume with ji-nie. The hamon begins as a short yaki-dashi and becomes variations on kataochi gunome, with sunagashi and kinsuji, all in a bright nioi guchi covered in ko-nie. The boshi is straight with ko maru and a short kaeri, and strongly swept. There are 2 tiny fingernail catcher nicks in the edge just above the habaki and a few tight and short instances of coarse grain on the ura; otherwise condition is excellent. This sword is mounted with a fine solid silver habaki and in well made shirasaya, also in excellent condition. It comes with a dealer’s paper (Shibata, I’ve been told).

I can’t say with certainty which smith from which school made this sword or when he worked (although late Koto may be a good guess); sorry. I can tell you he did nice work; this is quite pleasant. 1 pound, 14 ounces. $1,395.
