Sori: 1.4 cm.

Moto haba: 3.2 cm.

Moto kasane: .75 cm.

Saki haba: 2.2 cm.

Saki kasane: .4 cm.

Nakago nagasa: 9 1/4″ 23.5 cm.

Overall in shirasaya: 39 1/8″ 99.2 cm.

Shinogi zukuri, iore mune, koshi zori, chu kissaki, suriage.  The hada is itame mokume covered in ji-nie.  The hamon is notare with areas of choji variations worked in subtle hataraki including an area of nijuba at the top of the ura going into the kissaki, all in a consistent nioi guchi covered in bright ko-nie.  The boshi is gently undulating and ending in ko-maru with a short kaeri.  The blade is in a professional polish which is intact except for a couple lines where it has rubbed against the inside of the saya and which are too faint to appear in my pictures.  There are a few pin pricks/coarse grain (very minor) and one spot, just below the yokote on the ura, that I believe is an ume-gane (patch).  See my last picture for this.  The blade is mounted with a double solid silver habaki (nice) and in shirasaya in good condition.

This sword comes with 2 papers: Hozon dated 2013 from the NBTHK in Tokyo and another dated 2019 from the NTHK.

There were 2 generations of smiths with this name and title; the mei of this sword matches with that of the 1st generation.  Yamato Daijo Masanori worked in the 1st half of the 17th century. He is thought to have come from Tango Province, through Kyoto, and into Echizen where he settled with the Shimosaka group of swordsmiths.  He is rated Jo Saku in Fujishiro and he is included in Nihonto Taikan (not that many smiths were).  This is a fine sword with lots to recommend it; you should be pleased.  2 pounds, 13 ounces.  $2,750.
