Shinogi zukuri, iore mune, chu kissaki, tori zori. The hada is tight ko-itame. The hamon is a shallow notare midare forming suguba with subtle hataraki and ashi, all worked in a consistent nioi-guchi covered in bright ko-nie. With the exception of a pinprick or 2 and some fine scratches (notably at the kissaki) the blade is flawless and in good quality polish. It comes with a silver foil habaki and mounted in better then average shirasaya with horn on either side of the koi-guchi and at the mekugi-ana. This sword comes also with a Hozon paper from the NBTHK in Tokyo, dated 2011 and attesting to the signature and work.

The Hojoji School stretched from late Koto into early Shinto; Kunimasa is known to have worked in the latter half of the 17th century. This is a quality blade of impressive size and heft: a lot to like. 3 pounds. $5,475.
