This sword comes with an NTHK-NPO paper dated 2004 giving it to Kodai (later generation) Kanemoto. The signature is Kane and the next Kanji is too faint. On the ura is the date: Koji San Nen Hachi Gatsu Hi (a day in the 8th month of 1557) and an inscription giving ownership or possible a special order: Su (or Zu) Ki Gen Dai Ze Te Fu ? Kore. The shinsa worksheet is here; this was awarded 75 points.

The jitetsu is tight ko-itame with hints of masame and is in places zanguri. There is prominent shirake utsuri. The hamon is classic sanbonsuji: a bright nioi-guchi covered in fine ko-nie and some ara-nie in the mono-uchi. There is sunagashi. The boshi is midarekomi becoming jizo with a medium length kaeri. Futasuji-hi on both sides of this katana.

Kanemoto and Kanesada were the 2 big names in Mino at the tail end of Koto; the date at 1557 places this not long after Nidai Magoroku Kanemoto.

The blade is mounted with a quality double gold foil habaki and in shirasaya. There are a few shallow dings on the shirasaya but all is tight and in good condition. Other than for one are of slightly loose grain there are no defects on the blade and it is in polish.
