The hada is bright ko itame becoming masame in the shinogi-ji, with midare utusri reaching up to the shinogi. The hamon is variations of gunome midare with choji, ko-choji, pointed elements, yo, and more. The nioi-guchi is bright, clear, and uniform, covered in ko-nie with ashi, buckets of sunagashi, and kinsuji. The boshi is suguba with sunagashi and hakkekake, coming to ko-maru and a short return.

Mounted in shirasaya with a very nice gold foil habaki in excellent condition. The blade is flawless and in polish (a very good quality polish at that). There were many smiths who signed Tadamitsu working in Bizen from Nambokucho to Muromachi; my best guess is that this sword dates to one of them in Muromachi. I would guess also that this was one of the more skilled smiths who signed Tadamitsu; this is an exceptionally fine sword. No paper but it will get one if you so desire; it can’t miss. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m impressed.

1 pound, 14 ounces. $2,375.
