Hira zukuri, iore mune, koshi sori, ubu one hole. The hada is ko-itame with fine masame (there is a running masame on the ura near the mune). The hamon is chu-suguba widening towards the boshi in a bright and clear nioi guchi, worked with sunagashi, kinsuji, and hotsure in finest ko-nie. The boshi is sugu ending in a ko-maru and a long kaeri (there is mune yaki here and there down the mune). There are gomabashi hi carved on the omote and a short bo bi on the ura. With the exception of the running masame and one tiny, tiny pit, the blade is flawless and in polish with only a few very faint scratches.

This sword is mounted with a silver foil habaki and in fine koshirae in mint condition. The menuki are shakudo horses with gold spots. The fuchi kashira are shakudo nanako with horses and flowers worked in shakudo, gold, & silver. The tsuba, iron with gold inlay, is Kaneie style: a wise sage staring off to a mountain (probably looking for his horse). The saya is black lacquer with a horn kurikata (the lacquer is flawless). The tsuka-ito is well done, in perfect condition, and over good quality same’.

This sword’s sugata fits with either Nambokucho or late Muromachi; I’m not qualified to tell you which it fits best. I can say that this is quite nice; you should be pleased. 1 pound, 11 ounces. Was $2,425; now $1,950.
