A former owner of this sword gives it to Sandai (3rd) Osaka Tamba and I see no reason to quibble with his call. Tight ko-itame hada. The hamon starts straight (yaki dashi) and quickly becomes the classic for the group sudare ba (bamboo slat curtain), quite elaborate and covered in ko-nie. The boshi is ko-maru with tamaba (pearl shape) on both sides. There is one small pit, 2 tiny pits, and one instance of coarse grain on the shinogi and a short, tight ware' above the habaki and above the hamon on the ura; otherwise the blade is flawless. This is in a good quality polish that has not been messed with, with a copper habaki, and in very good shira-saya made of darker than usual ho wood (nice touch). 2 pounds. $1,750.
