C253.  Japanische Schwertzieraten: Sammlung G. Oeder.  Undated but possibly from 1915.  Clothbound, 9 3/4 x 12 3/4″, 218 pages in German.  In my years of book selling I have had only a facsimile copy of this book; this is the first actual copy I have ever seen.  The collection of Georg Oeder is presented in text and black & white photos.  At the back of the book are lists of artists, Kanji, and more.  This is a very early and exceedingly rare book on one of the fine kodogu collections in the west.

Edges of the cover have been rubbed and there is a quarter inch rip at the top of the spine.  The book mark ribbon is loose and there is writing on the Table of Contents (see my next to last picture).  The binding is strong and the pages are clean.  4 pounds.  Was $850; now $575.
