B829. Kanzan Shinto Oshigata Dictionary, hardbound
B829. Kanzan Shinto Oshigata Diconary by Kanzan Sato. 2005. Hardbound with a cloth slipcase, 9 3/4 x 12 1/4", about 500 pages in Japanese, Romaji, and English. This is from a limited edition of only 100 copies. Shinto is the new sword period, the 17th and 18th centuries. 729 well done oshigata of great blades: all of the important smiths and, what sets this book apart, many lesser known smiths are included. This is a great reference. At the western front of the book is all the text given in Romaji (Japanese in the English alphabet), and a glossary of sword terminology and list of smiths in English.
Also included is a softbound companion volume, 101 pages, 89 of which are English descriptions of the 729 swords in the book, given in Japanese and Romaji (Japanese spelled in English letters) and the remaining pages a thorough glossary of sword terminology (see the final 3 pictures).
