B413. Japanese Swordsmiths: Commemorative Centenary Edition, by Hawley
B413. Hawley’s Japanese Swordsmiths Revised: Commemorative Centenary Edition by W.M. Hawley. 1998. Softbound 2 volumes, 8 ½ x 11”, about 1100 pages in English. From a limited edition of 300. W.M. Hawley’s Japanese Swordsmiths Revised, the large brown hardbound book, contained errors, a missing page, and some pages that were printed faintly. This edition recreates the original and fixes those problems. You get Kanji used in smith’s names, provinces, carvings on swords, sword terminology, and more, but the large majority of this book, 919 pages, is a list of 32,000 smiths with typical signatures in both English and Kanji, provinces, cross references to other books, and a relative point ranking. A great book. I have also the hardbound edition of this book; search my listings.
The books have been well used: corners have been bumped, there are shallow creases in the covers, and there is a small stain on one back cover. Pages are clean and none are missing. 5 pounds, 10 ounces. Normally I ask $475 for this book. Due to the condition it will be $375.
