B395.  Nihonto Juyo Bijutsuhin Zenshu by Seishosha.  1985.  From a limited edition.  8 volumes, Clothbound in slipcases, 8 ½ x 12”, 2,446 pages in Japanese (The name of each artist is given also in English).  Juyo Bijutsuhin is a ranking given to art and historical objects by the Government of Japan; it is the last step below Kokuho (National Treasure).  These 8 volumes present, in crisp black & white photos and oshigata, all of the swords, mountings, and kodogu that have been granted this ranking.

The 1st 7 volumes are swords, arranged by schools and time.  The last volume is actually 2 books.  One presents koshirae, kodogu, and historical documents related to the swords and fittings, all with the Juyo Bijutsuhin rank, and the other is an index and notes, and includes an English index of the 8 volumes.

This is only the 4th time I have had the set; they aren’t often offered for sale. Condition is excellent.  36 pounds, 10 ounces.  $1,700.
