B361. Horikawa Kunihiro To Sono Deshi by Kanzan Sato

$300.00

B361.  Horikawa Kunihiro To Sono Deshi by Kanzan Sato.  1962.  Clothbound without slipcase, 10 x 141/2″, 260 pages in Japanese.  Horikawa Kunihiro was the founder of Shinto, the new sword tradition.  He and his many important students set the game for most everything that happened in Nihonto from the end of Muromachi onward.  After a 70 page introduction, mostly text with oshigata, the book is arranged into sections for the different smiths in the school.  Beautiful book that apparently is quite scarce; I was able to find only one other copy available anywhere online, priced at $500 in Japan.

The spine is a bit faded and there is light foxing on the outside of the page block; otherwise condition is excellent.  5 pounds, 4 ounces.  Was $400, now $300.
