B514.  Die Meister Der Japanischen Schwertzieraten von Shinkichi Hara.  2 softbound volumes, 1931 & 1932, 7 1/4 x 10 1/2″, 316 & 83 pages in German, have been hardbound together in one book.  These 2 volumes present a fine collection of kodogu.  The larger volume is, after 26 pages of introduction, short biographies of artists and the thinner volume is black & white photos of selected pieces.

Other than for the cover of the 1st volume, which has split along an old crease, the 2 books are in great condition; the hard cover is a bit rough.  The top of the spine is torn for less than an inch and corners have been rubbed (one rubbed badly).  But, this book was bound for Dr. Walter A. Compton, a very important name in Nihonto in the west (if you don’t know of him search my site for Compton).  I think this is the 1st time for me to have a book from Dr. Compton’s library.  3 pounds, 7 ounces.  Now $100.
