J139. Signed Jakushi Tsuba
J139. Iron tsuba signed by 3rd or 4th Jakushi, according to the consignor, who has this to say about it, "Signed Jakushi Tsuba. Mid 18th century. The fourth generation Shiraki Chouemon blended machi-bori elements, as a way of keeping up with changing tastes, with innovations to the family pattern-book, such as a dimensional seppa-dai with ryo-hitsu, and the use of openwork in some of his designs."
6.7 x 7 x .5 cm. The nakago hitsu-ana is .7 x 2.3 cm. Isn't it a bit unusual to have a sukashi Jakushi tsuba? The dragon with gold nunome fits right in, however. The treatment of the rim also is typical for the group. $300.
