N119.  Wakizashi signed Bizen no Kuni no Ju Osafune Kiyomitsu and dated Tensho Roku Nen Ni Gatsu Hi (a day in February of 1578).

Nagasa:  21 1/4"  54 cm.

Sori:  1.4 cm.

Moto haba:  3.1 cm.

Moto kasane:  .65 cm.

Saki haba:  2.3 cm.

Saki kasane:  .5 cm.

Nakago nagasa:  6"  15.3 cm.

Overall length:  30"  76 cm.

Very shallow undulations in suguba with ample subtle hataraki.  The boshi is a continuation of the hamon ending in 0-maru and a short kaeri.  The hada is exceptionally fine ko-itame and is flawless.  There is an unusual copper habaki (cut outs of cherry blossums I believe) and a well made shirasaya in great condition.  I think it wasn't so long ago that this was in polish but someone has messed with it.  There is a chipped ha in the monouchi (very shallow chips) and 3 areas of faint surface spotting, one of which has been steel wooled.  This will take a polish and come through fine; pity it is necessary.

The koshirae are as pictured and in excellent condition: shakudo and gold kojiri, iron with gold tsuba, shakudo and gold fuchi with horn kashira, and shakudo and gold menuki (dragons on ritual ken).  There are no chips in the lacquer and the tsuka-ito is perfectly intact.  The tsunagi is professionally made with a wooden habaki.

The blade has 2 papers, both from the NTHK, one dated 1997 and the other 2007.  3 pounds, 5 ounces.  Was 3,600, now 3,300.
