K30. Very Nice Papered Higo Koshirae

$1,395.00

K30.  Papered en suite Higo koshirae.  20″ (50.6 cm) overall length.  The paper is Tokubetsu Kicho from the NBTHK dated 1969.  This is quite nice and pretty much complete.  The fuchi kashira, koi guchi, kotsuka & wari kogai, and the kojiri are iron with gold.  The menuki are iron with gold kiri mon (the kiri mon are repeated on the kotsuka & kogai).  The tsuba is iron with gold again.  The kurikata, kaerizumo, and the piece at the mouth of the kotsuka pocket are horn.  The saya is red lacquered and ribbed (there is a repaired crack in the saya below the kurikata.  The tsuka-ito is single string.  All is held together with a tsunagi (wooden blade) that doesn’t fit very well (probably not the proper tsunagi bit it works well enough).  The tsunagi is mounted with a copper habaki.

There are a few small chips in the lacquer and very minimal loss to the tsuka-ito.  Otherwise all is in great condition.  This at one time probably held a very good tanto.  12 ounces.  $1,395.
